Read it and weep – the decline in Coronary Artery Disease (mainly helped by smoking cessation) ended in 1994. Since then we’ve replaced Smoking with Insulin Resistance from highly-digestible carbohydrate diets. The high blood pressure is only a surrogate anyway, so reducing that after-the-fact didn’t really help much. Must act to eliminate root cause, not downstream surrogates. What a mess. Great job guys. Great job.
